Libraries

A library material usage ticket (hereinafter referred to as a usage ticket) is required to borrow materials. If you wish to borrow, please receive a usage ticket. Those who live, work, or attend school in the city, as well as those living in nearby cities, are eligible. To apply for a ticket, fill out the application form provided at libraries and community center libraries, etc., and present it along with proof of address, name, and date of birth (insurance card, driver's license, etc.) please. We will issue it on the spot. The ticket is valid for 4 libraries, a mobile library, 17 community center libraries, etc., and 2 book lending and return counters. Each person can borrow 10 items for 2 weeks. You can also view CDs at the West Library and DVDs at the North Library (up to 2 items per person can be borrowed for one week). You can also make reservations online by registering your password (reservations cannot be made if you are not working or attending school outside the city).

Closed: Last Monday of every month (On the 21st if the last Monday of the month falls on the 28th at the East and North Libraries).

Kyodo Shiryokan (Historical Museum)

This museum exhibits materials and items relating to the archeology, folklore and history of Funabashi City throughout the year.

Planetarium

The planetarium offers explanatory lectures on stars and special shows depending on the season, as well as astronomical stargazing sessions using astronomical telescopes.

Tobinodai Historic Site Park Museum (Tobinodai Shiseki Kouen Hakubutsukan)

This museum displays relics from “Tobinodai Kaizuka” of the Initial Jomon Period and archeological finds from the Jomon Period that have been found in the city. Restored relics are also displayed outdoors in a historical site park.
